Intelligent Digital Stepper Drive

Smoother motion at much higher speeds

The Bell – an intelligent digital servo stepper drive.

Weighs only 1.59 oz (45 g) and supports up to 10 amps continuous current. Its high density allows the drive to deliver a peak of 1000 W of power and 500 W of continuous power

The Bell uses highly accurate modeling and advanced tuning schemes to deliver smoother motion at much higher speeds than conventional stepper drives. The Bell can drive steppers with a wide range of feedback methods to achieve extreme bandwidth servo performance. It can also use a load sensor for accurate "beyond the gear" performance.

Developed to meet OEM application requirements, the Bell stepper drive offers a desirable solution providing networking and intelligent programming capabilities while using lower cost stepper motors.

The Bell incorporates Elmo's highly efficient and compact power density design together with the rich feature set of the SimplIQ DSP core motion control technology. The combination of the Bell's programming flexibility, wide variety of feedbacks to close velocity or position loops and CANopen networking capabilities, makes it an ideal, cost effective solution.

Bell Highlights:

  • Smooth velocity throughout the speed range due to highly accurate motor modeling and dynamic tuning of the key parameters
  • Anti-resonant, adaptive input filter to eliminate torque loss
  • Adaptive voltage control for high speed applications, without exceeding the motor's current specifications
  • Closed loop velocity and position control with digital and analog encoders
  • Advanced filtering and gain scheduling are available for dynamic performance
  • Factory calibrated inputs for external analog signals and for analog encoders
