Composer-servo motor drive tuning Software for setup and operation motion control systems Composer is a sophisticated suite of Windows-based software designed for setup and operation of motion control systems using SimplIQ digital servo drives. It also includes an auto-tune wizard for automated single axis servo-drive setup. Designed specifically for the SimplIQ line of digital servo drives, the Composer will work with any brush or brushless servo motor. The tuning function of Composer captures a signature of the mechanical system and implements an optimal control algorithm. This algorithm typically includes PID filter, notch filter (resonance elimination) and gain scheduling (automatic gain adaptation to the speed). Composer also includes advanced diagnostic features, allowing the user to evaluate the tuning process with on screen scope traces. We are now able to provide a Bode plot of a mechanical system and demonstrate, with the use of compound notch filtering techniques, how the Autotune anticipates resonant frequencies and successfully nullifies their effects. This is the first commercially available auto tuning solution that goes beyond a marketing trick. Composer will improve the performance of every existing servo system, eliminating days, if not weeks of fine-tuning work that is typically the task of the design engineers.
